Jägersteig Weizklamm

Open
The Jägersteig is a short but exciting hike in the Weizklamm gorge. With caves, a suspension bridge and ropes on the walls to hold on to, it is a highlight in our region.

The starting point of the Jägerteig is the car park in Naas. Right at the beginning, the ascent is a little steeper. The path is impressive, as it is very steep in parts and also leads over iron stairs. Again and again you have the opportunity to enjoy great views of the Weizklamm gorge and beyond. You continue to climb over hill and dale and are rewarded with every additional metre of altitude. On this route there is also the possibility to make a short detour to the Rablloch height. Then you cross a suspension bridge until you reach your destination on the other side of the Weizklamm gorge.

The district capital of Weiz is located in eastern Styria and is very easy to reach via the A2 from Vienna (approx. 2 hrs) and from Graz (approx. 30 min).
  • Arrival from Vienna and Graz: On the A2 from Vienna, take motorway exit 161 / Gleisdorf West in the direction of B54 / B64. Follow the B65 / Gleisdorfer Bundesstraße until you reach the B54 / Wechselbundesstraße. At the roundabout take the second exit to the B64 / Rechberg-Bundesstraße. After about 15 km you will reach the district capital Weiz.
  • Arriving from Graz via the main road: take Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Kai and Wickenburggasse to Jahngasse / B67a. Follow the B72 to Weiz and take the exit towards Weiz -West.

From Weiz, follow the B64 in the direction of Passail. The Jägersteig car park is marked in large letters and is located shortly after Naas before the Weizklamm gorge on the right-hand side.

Route planner

  • We start our round at the free Jägersteig car park in Naas.
  • From there, the trail climbs steeply up to the Jägersteig directly opposite the car park.
  • We follow the trail over the Herdplatte until we reach the Rablgrat-Dachl.
  • Once there, we continue downhill over the suspension bridge.
  • After the suspension bridge, we follow the path steeply downhill and reach the car park after a few minutes' walk.

A short detour to the Rablloch Cave rounds off the hike.

Timetables and travel information can be found at Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB) or at Verkehrsauskunft Verbundlinie.

For local transportation we recommend the SAM-Sammeltaxi Oststeiermark.

There is a free car park both in Naas and just before the Kreuzwirt, after the Weizklamm.
